This standard provides information on environmentally sound practices for land drilling operations. Operational coverage begins with the initial planning of the drilling project and ends with decommissioning of the drill site. Facilities within the scope of this standard include the drill site and roads required to be built and used for access to the drill site. This document is intended to address environmental considerations and not safety or operational issues. However, there are items discussed, i.e., formation pressure control, for which there are mutual environmental, safety, and operational considerations. Similarly, this standard does not address obligations that may be required by the landowner and lease agreement.
